MOSCOW .- The American millionaire Anoush Ansari, first female space tourist in history, said today that it intends to visit a second Once the International Space Station (ISS).
"I really enjoyed the trip and will take every opportunity to travel back to the ISS in Soyuz craft or other means," said Ansari, 40, in Star City, outside Moscow.
Iranian-born American citizen, traveled last Ansari September 18 to the ISS in Soyuz TMA-9 in the company of Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Tiuri and English-American Michael Lopez-Alegria, and spent nine days in orbit with three other cosmonauts. On Friday, Ansari returned to Earth in the Soyuz TMA-8 in U.S. company Jeffrey Williams and Russian Pavel Vinogradov.
In his first press conference after the return, Ansari, Williams and Vinogradov shared their experiences with the press in the orbit. "Besides I could realize my dream, I would like to know more about what people feel during spaceflight," said Ansari, explaining the objectives of a second trip to the ISS. Proposal, apparently, supports Russia, as confirmed by Alexei Krasnov, head of human spaceflight program of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, told last week. "If he wants Ansari, can travel to the ISS for the second time in 2008, because that date was originally scheduled his trip," said Krasnov, recalling that Ansari replaced Japanese Daisuke Enomoto, unable for medical reasons in August to travel to the ISS in Soyuz TMA-9.
Smiling, Ansari said he was confident that his achievement will promote interest in the cosmos, even to skeptics like her husband Hamid. "Perhaps he (Hamid), half-hearted space flight, to see what I also want to fly," he said. He stated that during his stay on the ISS received thousands of letters and messages on its website explaining the details and surprises that is space tourism. Ansari confessed that the hardest part of the trip was the adaptation of the vestibular system (which controls balance) to weightlessness, and suffered dizziness.
